چکیده

A method of assay for the adrenal cortical hormone utilizing the blood urea level of the adrenalectomized dog was suggested by Harrop, Pfiffner, Weinstein, and Swingle (1,2) as a result of earlier cooperative work on the effect of the hormone in the normal and adrenalectomized animal. In those studies it was found that the cortical hormone had no demonstrable effect in the normal dog. A rise in blood urea was observed to be one of the first manifestations of insufficiency in the adrenalectomized dog on the gradual withdrawal of extract. A dog unit was defined as “the minimum daily kilogram dose of cortical hormone necessary to maintain normal physiological conditions in the adrenalectomized dog for a period of 7 to 10 days; the two criteria of normal physiological condition being maintenance of body weight and blood level of non-protein nitrogen (or urea).” Rogoff and Stewart (3) had found in their studies on the effect of adrenalectomy in the dog that a significant rise in the blood urea usually terminated the “period of good health” and occurred some time (usually at least several days) before death.1 All other methods of assay so far

Orr Sommerfeld Solver Using Mapped Finite Di?erence Scheme for Plane Wake Flow

Linear stability analysis of the three dimensional plane wake flow is performed using a mapped finite di?erence scheme in a domain which is doubly infinite in the cross–stream direction of wake flow. The physical domain in cross–stream direction is mapped to the computational domain using a cotangent mapping of the form y = ?cot(??). The Squire transformation [2], proposed by Squire, is also us...

Effects of different culture media on optimization of primary neuronal cell culture for in vitro models assay

Background: In vitro model studies are becoming increasingly popular for experimental research designs. They include isolation and expansion of cells of a particular tissue, such as the nervous tissue which contributes to understanding the underlying mechanisms in many pathologies. It enables  the scrutinization of intracellular signaling pathways responsible for cell death. OBJECTIVES: In the ...

P-86: Protective Effect of Vitamin C and Royal Jelly on Sex Hormones on Phenylhydrazine Treated Adult Male Mice

Background: Phenylhydrazine (PHZ) is used to induce experimental anemia in animal models. On the other hand royal jelly is known as antioxidant compound. Therefore, here in present study we aimed to evaluate the protective effect of royal jelly on PHZ-induced damages in testicular tissue and compare its impact with vitamin C. Materials and Methods: Eighteen mature male mice were randomly divide...
